Good addresses in New York #11

Hello hello, little buffalo!

September was intense with discoveries which I felt in love with but this time, it’s all going to be about restaurants and coffee shops. No bars, rooftops or home delivery, in September, I was really good. However, I found a few really great places, so get your address book! You want to know where to eat (really really good) in New York? Follow me, c’est par ici!

Piatsa Kalamaki: Nice discovery of the month, it’s a tiny tiny place, more designed for take-away than eat-in, which offers a good greek food. The tzatziki is great and you can also order vegetarian meals. I will be back very soon to try the other mezzes like htipiti or skordalia. Conclusion: Perfect for a quick lunch in the heart of Midtown. (And they also are broadcasting greek radio!)

My friend Anna brought me to Rosarito Fish Shack, a beautiful Brooklyn restaurant. We shared a few tasty dishes (salad and guac) but I really felt in love with the Peruvian ceviche! Perfection! In addition, the place and the service is charming, and so is the terrace! Conclusion: A huge yes, I think you got it! This is my first “ “this month.

Maison Kayser is so famous in New York, I really wanted to try it, but the menu was not that appealing after all. Too few choice for vegetarian, or for those who wants a light meal. You still can get a salad, but it will be really expensive! My “figue and goat cheese tartine” dish was pretty miserable, without even a salad leave for decoration. Conclusion: Good food, but I could have done better myself, at home, and for way less money! Meh!

Da Andrea is a small Italian place in the West Village! Everything was delicious and even if it was not as good as Gradisca, I liked the food and the place (which was a little bit too dark for the pictures, as you can notice!) The service was quite good, the guy actually sang “HB” with us! Conclusion: Try the bolognese and truffle pasta, it’s awesome!

I was advised to try Souvlaki GR by my fiend Ella, who was visiting from Switzerland and whose food tastes are always worth to be trusted! The place is greek-island-kitch-style but when I went in, it was smelling just like home! The choice is great (they even have “tyrokaftedes” yum!), it’s inexpensive and you will eat delicious food listening to Greek music. The experience could have been perfect, with a better service (as often in The City, they were almost rude!) Conclusion: Outstanding food, I think this is the best Greek food I have ever had away from the country! This is THE one I fell in love with this month!

On my to-do list for months, Hu kitchen is a cafeteria style restaurant that serves healthy food in a beautifully designed place. Vegetarian, vegan, paleo or choices for food lovers, the food was great and inexpensive. When leaving the place, I noticed the take-away section, filled with vegetarian “meat” balls, and a lot of sautéed vegetables! Conclusion: A great place to visit, near Union Square!

We were totally starving (did I already tell you how drama queen I am?) when we decided to try Spitzer’s after reading the menu and looking at the place (release two designer in New York and you will be assured of getting great addresses!) The menu is typical of the current New-York food trend – salads with edamame and spinach, burger, sweet potato fries – but everything is well-seasoned and delicious. Conclusion: Nice address. I will go back to taste the truffle mac and cheese (that smell, it was torture!)

After a few unsuccessful attempts to have lunch at Jack’s Wife Freda, I finally got a table, and it was worth waiting! The menu, breakfast-oriented with Mediterranean touches, was appealing and my tartine mozzarella- pesto- eggplant was delicious! Conclusion: it’s the third place I fell in love with this month, a must! (And if you did not try the great waffles, you can just cross the street and have the best cheesecakes in town!)

♥ Bakeri was recommended to me by my friend Anna (who said “again”?), who is definitely worth listening at! I immediately loved the design of the place, so Brooklyn, with its open kitchen and nice pastries. Conclusion: I just had a little breakfast, delicious, I was told the brunch is great as well! A nice address to have in your book, even If it’s just to look at the place!

    1. Oui je pense pas que ça pose problème. Il y a une grande tablée centrale, et quelques chaises autour du “bar”, et tu peux voir les boulangers s’affairer… je suis sûre que ça plairait aux enfants 😉
