Good addresses in New York #17

Usually, as the big organized freak I am, I do a small list of the places I visited, I write a little bit about how it was and sometimes, I even start to write the article as a go I to the restaurant (since it’s the one that takes me the longest to write!) Often, the month goes by so fast I have no issue remembering where I ate and when (I have a great memory!). But April came and not only I felt like it lasted 4 years but I also did not make my list, the pictures in my phone are a mess and I can’t really remember when things happened. What a joke!

So, it’s a retrospective full of great things to eat (as usual), featuring a fun address where you eat in a carwash, but also really painful to write, because it mean cleaning all my mess first! Anyway, good addresses to eat great in The City? Follow me, c’est par ici:

Let’s begin with something really diet-conscious, a Russian meal at Ocean View Café in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. Owned and frequented by Russian, you can find this little address in the middle of a street covered with Cyrillic alphabet! And the food was soooo good!

The first place I fell in love with this month was Wisefish Poke, an Hawaiian restaurant serving poke (pronounce “po-kai”), these bowls of raw fish garnished with various veggies and rice. It was delicious and super healthy, so the place fast became my to-go!

Blossom Vegan Bakery offers vegan pastries (oh really?) quite pricey but really good! It’s a great proof you can eat vegan AND tasty at the same time, and not only by eating seeds! Haters gonna hate, I don’t care!

♥ My love for sweets is not to demonstrate anymore, but I am not sure I already told you about my love for ice cream? These past few weeks, I have been eating 1 pint of Ben and Jerry Peanut Butter Cup ice cream every other day. And since I am quite obsessed with it, I decided to try Il Laboratorio del Gelato, little gem in the Lower East Side. It’s expensive for what you get (I mean, if you compare with Italy) but it’s so damn good and the choice is HUGE! (Oh and btw, of course I tried the peanut butter one, and it was awesome!!)

♥ In April, I met some of my fellow blogger in real life: Emilie from the blog Voyages Enfants New York. Not only her blog is great to plan a trip to The City, but she and her family are the nicest people! We went to lunch at Tacombi Nolita, a little Mexican restaurant on my wish list for months! The food was great and I fell in love with the design of the place!!

Totto Ramen is a famous ramen place in New York. Prepare yourself to be in line for a bit (depending on which location you picked and when you got there) but these little bowls are dope! (Cash only, and be careful not to calculate the tip wrong, you’ll be called to order!)

I have already told you about Peppe Rosso to Go when I tried their paninis. I went back to have the pastas and it confirmed my first impression: this is a little address to remember!

Little Beet Table is a “new” kind of restaurant, as you can easily find in New York, about healthy and good food. Salads are huge, the fish taco was amazing and overall everything on the menu looked good! The only bad thing about it (and about most of these “healthy oriented places” is the price: really expensive for a lunch) (And yes, I am talking about the $11 dessert, among other!)

And to end that retrospective the right way, let me tell you about an address you won’t find in touristic guides: Underwest Donut is a little pastry shop located… in a carwash! You enter a regular carwash, and you go through the place to eat your donut while watching the cars being cleaned! The donut itself was not the best I had, but you must go there, even just for the experience! (On the picture, my friend Sophie, who happens to be the camera operator on this one!) (And yes, we sound like chicken in that video, I KNOW!!)

I hope you found some inspiration! I will now go back to organizing my phone and lists, so I can be less in a rush on the next one! (She says while binge-watching the 17th episode of Sex and the City today!)

See ya’

Bises,
      Amy
